What to Expect on a Destin Jet Ski Dolphin Tour
After a quick safety video, life-jacket fitting, and a hands-on walkthrough of the controls, you’ll follow our guide out of the Destin Harbor and into the bay’s dolphin-rich grass flats. The route typically loops past Crab Island, traces the shoreline of the Choctawhatchee Bay, and depending on the daily marine report, swings toward the East Pass where dolphins often follow the tide. Like any wildlife encounter, nothing is ever guaranteed—our captains know the water, but the dolphins still write the script.
Total tour length runs roughly 90 minutes on the water, which gives you time to ride hard on the open stretches and slow down when a pod surfaces nearby. Riders consistently see bottlenose dolphins, and the bay is also home to ospreys, bald eagles, and sea turtles along the shoreline.

Rider Capacity, Age & Licensing Rules
Each WaveRunner can carry two riders up to 400 lbs or three riders up to 350 lbs at our crew’s discretion—so a parent can bring a smaller child or split into a pair. The minimum age to ride is 5, and children cannot sit on the front of the ski. Anyone signing the rental contract or operating the jet ski must be at least 18 with valid ID.
Per Florida law, drivers born on or after January 1, 1988 must present a Florida Boating Safety Education ID card (or equivalent). If you don’t have one, we administer a Temporary Boater Certificate test on-site for $3.00; budget about 45–60 minutes for study and the test, so plan to arrive early.

Tours stay inside the 15-square-mile bay zone—no Gulf of Mexico crossings—so the water is calmer and easier for first-timers and families. You’ll see Crab Island, the Destin Harbor, and the grass flats that draw the dolphins in the first place.

Parking
Destin Water Fun (214 Harbor Blvd): customer parking on site covers one vehicle per reservation, first come, first served — on busy days we suggest carpooling. Extra vehicles park free at 310 Mountain Drive or for $15 per vehicle at 285 US-98 W. RVs and trailers can’t park on site and use the paid public lot across the street.
Gilligan's Watersports (530 Harbor Blvd): free on-property parking, first come, first served, with overflow at 531 Mountain Drive.
Xtreme H2O (7 Calhoun Ave): public parking at the Destin Marina beside the launch — limited on high-volume days, so carpool when possible.
Check-In
