Jet Ski Dolphin Tours in Destin, FL

Skim across Destin’s emerald-green water with the throttle in your hand and dolphins close enough to photograph. Our guided jet ski dolphin tour in Destin, FL pairs the freedom of a personal watercraft with a captain-led route through Choctawhatchee Bay—the corner of the Florida Panhandle where bottlenose dolphins regularly surface to feed, play, and ride the wake. Departures run twice daily from our sister locations on the Destin Harbor, with up to eight jet skis per guide so the group stays tight and the briefing stays personal.

This is the tour for travelers who don’t want to sit on a bench while someone else drives the boat. You drive. We lead.

What to Expect on a Destin Jet Ski Dolphin Tour

After a quick safety video, life-jacket fitting, and a hands-on walkthrough of the controls, you’ll follow our guide out of the Destin Harbor and into the bay’s dolphin-rich grass flats. The route typically loops past Crab Island, traces the shoreline of the Choctawhatchee Bay, and depending on the daily marine report, swings toward the East Pass where dolphins often follow the tide. Like any wildlife encounter, nothing is ever guaranteed—our captains know the water, but the dolphins still write the script.

Total tour length runs roughly 90 minutes on the water, which gives you time to ride hard on the open stretches and slow down when a pod surfaces nearby. Riders consistently see bottlenose dolphins, and the bay is also home to ospreys, bald eagles, and sea turtles along the shoreline.

Two Daily Guided Departures

Our guided jet ski dolphin tour departs twice every day during the season from our sister locations on the harbor. Group size is capped to keep the experience personal: up to eight jet skis per guide, which means more sightings, fewer waits at idle, and a tighter pack when dolphins appear.

Prefer to ride on your own schedule? We also offer unguided jet ski rentals that launch every 15 minutes from our Destin Water Fun docks—see our jet ski rentals page for details.

Rider Capacity, Age & Licensing Rules

Each WaveRunner can carry two riders up to 400 lbs or three riders up to 350 lbs at our crew’s discretion—so a parent can bring a smaller child or split into a pair. The minimum age to ride is 5, and children cannot sit on the front of the ski. Anyone signing the rental contract or operating the jet ski must be at least 18 with valid ID.

Per Florida law, drivers born on or after January 1, 1988 must present a Florida Boating Safety Education ID card (or equivalent). If you don’t have one, we administer a Temporary Boater Certificate test on-site for $3.00; budget about 45–60 minutes for study and the test, so plan to arrive early.

Where We Ride

Tours stay inside the 15-square-mile bay zone—no Gulf of Mexico crossings—so the water is calmer and easier for first-timers and families. You’ll see Crab Island, the Destin Harbor, and the grass flats that draw the dolphins in the first place.
